Balloon Dilation Catheters Design

Balloon dilation catheters are useful in opening constrictions and applying radially expansive forces within anatomical structures. These devices are used in heart valves, coronary and peripheral arteries, and to cross the septum to provide transseptal access to the heart’s left chambers. Balloon dilation catheters are often used in neurovascular, renal, esophagus, urethra, sinus cavity, and other procedures. Applications include:
  • Angioplasty catheters
  • Arthrectomy catheters
  • Cryogenic catheters
  • Drug-delivery devices
  • Heat-transfer catheters
  • Laser balloon catheters
  • Photodynamic therapy devices
  • Positioning catheters
  • Stent-delivery catheters
DUKE Empirical has decades of experience in developing and manufacturing balloon dilation catheters. We supply balloon dilation catheters for all applications, and can provide RX (rapid exchange) or over-the-wire solutions for your more complex medical procedures.

Custom Balloon Dilation Catheter Manufacturer

We use a variety of materials in balloon dilation catheter manufacturing. The material is matched to the application based on the performance requirements and the material compliance (or elasticity) required. For example, PET is non-compliant (stiff), nylon and Pebax® are semi-compliant (somewhat elastic), and low durometer urethane is highly compliant (very elastic).

We can produce balloon dilation catheters capable of operating at pressures up to 30-plus atmospheres.

Balloon Dilation Catheter Shapes

We produce balloon dilation catheters with nearly any balloon shape you may require, including amongst other possibilities:
Custom Balloon Catheter
  • Conical
  • Conical-to-square
  • Conical-to-spherical
  • Conical-offset
  • Offset
  • Oblong
  • “Dog bone”
  • Spherical
  • Long spherical
  • Square
  • Stepped
  • Tapered

Customized Balloon Dilation Catheters for Enhanced Medical Performance

We will work with you and your new or existing designs to create customized balloon dilation catheters. DUKE Empirical’s engineering team will recommend materials, configurations, and scalable production methods to optimize your catheters’ performance and manufacturability. Contact us to discuss your custom requirements and to learn how our catheter manufacturing capabilities can accelerate your time to market.

DUKE Empirical utilizes ISO Class 8 cleanrooms to extrude, manufacture, and assemble our medical tubing, catheter components, and finished goods. Our controlled environment rooms are monitored for particulate to the ISO 14644 standards. In addition to meeting the ISO standard for particulate, the rooms are monitored for microbiology, making them suitable for medical device manufacturing.
